In Xbox Madden 10, Snap the Ball, and your Rival’s Bones

You may need a crash course in football video game history, if hearing about all the innovations and improvements that Xbox Madden 10 offers still hasn't moved you. Yeah, it could be a bit cruel to constantly bag on older games as a means to elevate today's football video games. On the other hand, after a closer examination of the older football video games, it's easier to comprehend why Xbox Madden 10 has been at the center of such unadulterated adulation. From day one, football video games were what the original hardcore gamers wanted, back when the video game consoles were taking their first "baby steps" in the world. But the catch was, the power of the early video game consoles didn't exactly equal the imaginations and desires of those early hardcore gamers, so everyone had to settle for less. The buzzword for this one was "all the excitement" of the real thing, as the game publishers tried to sell their captive audience on this one.

They didn't even try to make those guys look like people. Just needed to get that one off my chest. The brief glance at the pic gives you a taste, but believe me, what went on during an actual game was much more horrific. From a technological standpoint, things were so basic, that multiple players moving at once meant that the only thing extreme about this game was the flickering of the players. Sound effects didn't fare much better, with the "spectators" sounding more like a car with a busted muffler. Another disappointment - the screen didn't (or just couldn't) scroll. In a short matter of time, the competitors entered the video game console field, and brought out their take on a more realistic football video game. It had made the necessary innovations to make sports video games some serious business - the characters were animated better, without the same graphical setbacks, and this time, there was a scrolling screen, a necessity for football video games. However, it was still a bit primitive. Hardcore gamers were pretty excited by that one, as it really heralded the beginning of sports video games - but it was still just an early entry in the field. Several years would pass before that came to pass. Technology had caught up, albeit slightly, to gamers' football desires, to the point where this game has taken on an iconic status for gamers today. For quite a while, this was considered the greatest football video game by the video game world.

Why this went supernova isn't hard to figure out - with actual offensive and defensive strategies, they brought in a new level of realism. With the improvements in both the sound and the graphics, gamers saw this as the first and last word in video football games. With the online revival, today's gamers are getting a taste of yesteryear - and loving it. However, it doesn't even come close to what Xbox Madden 10 offers.

It's always great to see how far we, and football video games, have come. So, yeah, no point in calling out the old football games. You've gotten the point. Those games had their weaknesses, but if it weren't for them, we wouldn't be playing Xbox Madden 10 today, so they did get the ball rolling. Hardcore gamers have every reason to be fired up - Xbox Madden 10 really is the winning touchdown. The fans aren't the only ones raving about Xbox Madden 10 - the critics have said their piece, and they're into it. You want impressive admiration for Xbox Madden 10, see the reviews, which all use terms like"realistic and enjoyable." EA Sports has really concocted a Super Bowl sized hit with Xbox Madden 10, as expected.

Don't let the naysayers shape your opinion - Xbox Madden 10 is a game for the ages. Not to put down any other Xbox sports video games, which have certainly earned their solid rep, but Xbox Madden 10 is just the best of the best. It's the favorite of hardcore gamers, and with good cause. Better still, the true gamers know that this is the arena which will separate the wheat from the chaff, after you play video games for money.

Now, Xbox Madden 10 fanatics can throw down the gauntlet and play video games for money. Once you've reached your apex of acumen, you'll be the one scoring big - and filling up your wallet in the process.
